H4O Open House Recap
On June 20, H4O held its first virtual Open House, which provided a chance for Hoyas for Others to connect with one another, ask questions, and learn more about future plans. In attendance were current Georgetown undergrads, early and mid-career alumni working in the nonprofit space, a leader of Hoyas with Pride, and a representative of the Cawley Career Center.
As the initial gathering, we also used the event as a focus group to help us think through our ongoing ‘incubation’ focus and strategies.
Questions posed included: “How do you/we define the term ‘Hoyas for Others?’” and “How do we better identify and recruit these potential members?” On the former, there were a range of responses, including “it’s self-defining,” to “grads living the GU ethos of ‘People for Others,’” to “being a good citizen.”
On the latter question, there was consensus about the importance of one-to-one outreach, partnerships with other alumni groups such as APO, and a broader communications plan. If you have any thoughts on the above questions, please reach out to hoyas4others@gmail.com.
Stay tuned for news about future H4O Open Houses with specific social impact topics and speakers!
